Guntersville Lake is an internationally renowned fishery for largemouth bass. It was also the host of the 2020 Bassmaster Classic, where records were shattered. With its shallow and dynamic features, abundance of aquatic vegetation, and current generated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, Guntersville is the ideal bass factory.
Weiss Lake has earned its reputation as the crappie capital of the world. Yet, it also boasts exceptional populations of trophy spotted bass and largemouth bass, making it one of the world's top destinations for these species. Tournaments often require over 20 lbs. for 5 fish to clinch a win. Similar to Guntersville, Weiss Lake is shallow with plentiful natural cover.
Neely Henry Lake stands out as the most distinctive fishery in northern Alabama. While it resembles a genuine river system to the north, its southern end is spacious and resembles a vast lake. It is abundant with sizable largemouth and spotted bass that can be caught using a diverse range of techniques on any given day. Having grown up within walking distance of its shoreline, I fished there regularly.
Logan Martin Lake has earned its nickname as the lake of a thousand coves. This renowned fishery is famous for its exceptional spotted bass population. During spring and fall, catching 30 or more high-quality bass per day is typical. It is also where I have mastered my distinctive crankbait fishing technique, which I am happy to teach you.
