Spring
Spring moves largemouth into the pockets and the backs of coves to spawn while spotted bass gang up on points and rock. Squarebills, jigs, and soft plastics around docks and wood shine as the water warms.
The 'Lake of a Thousand Coves' on the Coosa
Logan Martin Lake is a 15,000-acre Coosa River reservoir near Pell City and Talladega, often called the 'Lake of a Thousand Coves' for its endless docks, pockets, and shoreline. It is one of the best spotted-bass fisheries in the region, with quality largemouth mixed in, and its proximity to Birmingham makes it the most convenient serious bass lake for the metro area.
Logan Martin is a dock and cover lake at heart. Skipping baits under boat docks, working seawalls and laydowns, and finding the right pockets are what put fish in the boat. Captain Shane fishes it with proven Coosa River tactics and shortcuts the search so you spend your day on productive water.
🎣 What it means: Hot summer pattern. Early-morning and late topwater; deep ledges and current breaks midday.

🎣 Today's bite: Good day — the first quarter gives workable majors. Focus your effort on the listed windows, especially dawn and dusk.
How the bite changes through the year — and how each trip is matched to the season.

Summer is dock-skipping and spotted-bass season. Shaded docks, seawalls, and main-lake points hold fish that take shaky heads, crankbaits, and topwater early and late.
Fall shifts the bass shallow behind migrating shad. Moving baits in the pockets and around bait schools bring fast, fun action through the cooler months.
Winter concentrates fish on deeper structure and around docks in the warmer pockets. Slower presentations and jerkbaits produce quality bites on stable days with light pressure.

Logan Martin is the natural choice for anglers from Birmingham, Pell City, Talladega, and the I-20 corridor who want quality bass fishing close to the metro. It is also a favorite of anglers who love skipping docks and chasing hard-pulling spotted bass.
Trips run from a fully equipped bass boat with all rods, reels, and tackle included. Captain Shane reads the conditions, picks the docks, pockets, and structure holding fish, and puts you on a productive pattern. Bring an Alabama fishing license, dress for the weather, and pack a cooler.
